In the middle years classroom music is centred on developing audiation (the ability to think in sound). Students are required to sing in aural tasks as well as develop theoretical understandings. In all year levels students have the opportunity to transfer their audiation and theory skills onto instruments (keyboard and percussion) and into composition.

The music Facilities at KHS consist of a general music room adjoined by 3 soundproof rooms. The soundproof rooms allow Students to practice without disturbing each other and the rest of the school. Students are able to learn a vairety of instruments
including electric and accoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard and vocals.

Students also have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument through the NT School of Music. Instruments can be hired and individual tuition is timetables to fit with students studies. In most cases students elect to join the school concert band which
